New Samsung ‘SM-G615F’ Smartphone Surfaces On GFXBench

A new Samsung mid-range smartphone powered by an octa-core MediaTek SoC (System-on-Chip) recently emerged in the GFXBench database. The device is identified by model number “SM-G615F” and accommodates a generous 5.7-inch display featuring a resolution of 1920 x 1080. It’s interesting to note that this is the first time the so-called “SM-G615F” blipped on the radars, but judging by the model number, the device could be a sequel to last year’s Samsung Galaxy On7 Pro, which is also known by model number “SM-G600F”.
According to data shared by GFXBench, the Samsung “SM-G615F” is powered by a MediaTek MT6764 SoC housing eight Cortex-A53 CPU cores operating at frequencies of up to 2.3 GHz, and an ARM Mali-T880 MP2 dual-core graphics chip. In addition, the smartphone takes advantage of 3GB of RAM, 32GB of on-board memory, as well as a 12-megapixel main camera with autofocus, face detection, and HDR photo, along with a 12-megapixel front-facing sensor with 1080p video recording capabilities. Last but not least, the smartphone runs Android 7.0 Nougat enhanced with Samsung’s proprietary user interface, and seems to take advantage of Bluetooth, GPS, and Wi-Fi connectivity while ditching NFC. With all that being said the SM-G615F undeniably fits in the mid-range market segment, and synthetic benchmark results further cement its position. According to GFXBench – and as seen in the screenshots below – the smartphone at hand scored 228 frames in the 1440p Manhattan 3.1.1 Offscreen benchmark, while topping 1254 and 1298 frames in the T-Rex (OpenGL ES 2.0) Onscreen and Offscreen benchmarks respectively.
As mentioned above, this is the first time the Samsung SM-G615F makes an appearance online, and the device could be a direct successor to the 2016 Samsung Galaxy On7 Pro. The aforementioned device was released in the summer of 2016 carrying a 5.5-inch display with a resolution of 1280 x 720 and a Qualcomm MSM8916 Snapdragon 410 System-on-Chip, along with 2GB of RAM and 16GB of on-board memory. It also housed a 13-megapixel main camera coupled with a 5-megapixel front-facing sensor, so by the looks of things the mysterious SM-G615F could be a worthwhile successor. On the other hand, as a sequel to the Samsung Galaxy On7 Pro, the SM-G615F might be set for a market release at a later date, sometime in the summer of 2017. Keep in mind that officially, nothing is known in regards to the SM-G615F so all the details remain subject to change.
