Did Twinkle Khanna just INSULT Salman Khan & Shahrukh Khan

Twinkle Khanna is known for her wit-filled sarcasm. Her humour is so popular that by now, everyone in the film industry knows that his ex-actress and star wife has a talent of minting words and talking between the lines nobody else can match up to. But here’s what Mrs FunnyBones aka Twinkle Khanna has said that might lead to some not-so-funny moments between her husband Akshay Kumar and his peers – Salman Khan and Shah Rukh Khan.

Akshay Kumar and Bhumi Pednekar’s recent release ‘Toilet: Ek Prem Katha’ has minted close to 51 crores within three days — aka first opening weekend — of its release. So, an elated Twinkle posted a tweet on her Twitter account, saying, “So, even the Box Office needed this Toiler eventually to break free from its constipation.” Now, on one hand it did mean that she’s happy for her hubby’s success, it also somehow meant that Box Office got some numbers rolling after a long while since Salman Khan’s big ticket release ‘Tubelight’, followed by Shah Rukh Khan’s ‘Jab Harry Met Sejal’ — both could not do much business.

If one would give Twinkle the benefit of doubt — that she did not mean to say anything to the Khans and was just plainly appreciating her husband — Taran Adarsh’s tweet was perhaps the final nail in the coffin. The trade analyst tweeted that ‘Toilet Ek Prem Katha has pumped oxygen in the lungs of an ailing film industry.’

Around some time back, Akshay Kumar had said to the media that all the film release dates are already booked two years in advance and that he hardly gets the choice to have a release date of his own (Eid, Diwali or Christmas — since all the Khans usually pick up these dates well ahead of time). Now, that too was a jibe at them.

Akshay Kumar has had splendid releases in the last three years. Be it ‘Airlift’, ‘Rustom’, ‘Jolly LLB 2’ or ‘Toilet: Ek Prem Katha’. Most of his films have been in the list of highest Box Office openers. But does that mean he should be gloating all the way?
